New Maroon 5 single and video planned for 2017

Adam Levine pictured with Future and others on the set of a new music video, shot in December 2016.
The new single, tentatively titled "Cold", is allegedly coming out early next year

A rumor mill struck the web on Thursday (Dec. 22) that pop rock band Maroon 5 had filmed a music video for a brand new single, allegedly titled "Cold", according to several sources on Twitter and Instagram. Leaked behind-the-scenes footage of the music video shoot was uploaded to Instagram and shared all over the internet today and you can distinctly hear Levine's voice crooned over a bouncy-R&B/hip hop beat in a nightclub.

The news started with a post made by actress and fitness guru Kerstin Schulze on Instagram on Thursday morning, which was a photo of herself and Adam Levine (with his brand new blonde hair look). The description reads "It was such a pleasure to work with him on his new Maroon 5 music video 'Cold'." It continued to read, "[...] he is an athlete himself and we shared knowledge on training and what it takes to be mentally and physically fit. He is solid, I know since I had to pick him up." See the full post embedded for you below.

Later on, a Maroon 5 fan account (by the name of @maroon5damn) posted a clip containing footage of someone recording behind the scenes of the alleged Maroon 5 music video, in which you can faintly hear Levine singing over a hip hop beat. Check out that post below.

At this point, other additional information about the song and its music video started to surface on Instagram, including a post made by independent film director Danny Boyent, where he posted a photo of him and Levine outside of a mansion exchanging words. The description read "Blessed to be apart of this project. Look out for the new Adam Levine [featuring] Future music video." This made fans skeptical whether or not the video and song are for Maroon 5 or if it is solely a Levine and Future collaboration. Another post made by the same director went live on Instagram shortly after, with a photo of Levine stepping into a vehicle; the description said: "One of our exotics featured on the new Adam Levine music video featuring Future." You can see the first of these two posts embedded below.

So, since nothing has been officially revealed by the label or the band yet, that leaves the question... what is Maroon 5 up to? Is this new "Cold" single going to be the beginning of a new chapter for the band? Or is it an entirely different project that Future and Levine are strictly on? When will this video and song be out for the world to hear? These are the details we are waiting to see. Online music critics and fans are speculating that the song will be the lead single off the band's highly anticipated sixth studio effort, the follow-up to their fifth album V (2014), set to be released next year. Others believe that Future is putting out a new song that just features Levine on the hook.

Until further notice, all we can confirm at the moment is that Adam Levine and Future recorded a new music video for a song, tentatively titled "Cold", which involved fitness guru and actress Kerstin Schulze and rapper Future.

Stay tuned. More news to come.

The brand new music video for Maroon 5's new single, "Don't Wanna Know", featuring Kendrick Lamar, finally premiered earlier this morning (Fri, Oct 14) on The Today Show.

The band collaborated with friend and producer David Dobkin once again to film the video, who also directed the band's hit video "Sugar", which became 2015's most controversial music videos. Maroon 5 just premiered the Kendrick Lamar-assisted single earlier this week on Tuesday and has maintained 1.5 million streams via Spotify and 3.5 million streams via YouTube Music. However, the music video version of "Don't Wanna Know" does not feature Lamar's 18-second rap verse as heard in the original.

'The Voice' recap: Team Adam is ready for Voice Battles

Team Adam for "The Voice" season 11 following the blind auditions.
The Voice coach Adam Levine has a team full of winners

What might be one of the most diverse cast of The Voice contestants ever seen on coach Adam Levine's team, might just be holding the winner of season 11. Why you may ask? Because diversity seems to be key in recent wins of the hit NBC show.

The Voice blind auditions for this season kicked off just over two weeks ago with the explosive introduction of two new coaches, Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus, who each brought their A game and were never not a challenge for veteran coaches Blake Shelton and Levine to face.

We have put together all of the blind auditions from contestants over the course of the season so far who have joined Team Adam and will be continuing onward to the famous "Voice Battle" rounds next week. Take the time to watch, listen, and check out Team Adam below.

Riley Elmore

A true, young, and yet seemingly experienced R&B, jazz crooner Riley Elmore of W. Dundee, Illinois auditioned by performing Frank Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight", which obviously grabbed coach Adam's attention right off the bat. Maroon 5 covered "The Way You Look Tonight" in the studio for a Sinatra tribute album almost a decade ago and Levine has always shown his passion for Sinatra's work.

Andrew DeMuro

Andrew DeMuro of Chicago, Illinois auditioned by performing "Vienna", a smooth-sailing and classic Billy Joel hit, and caught the ear of coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Levine obviously persuaded DeMuro onto his team due to their mutual love for Billy Joel.

Billy Gilman

One of the most beautiful male performances of an Adele song ever to be presented on the show, Billy Gilman of Richmond, Rhode Island performed Adele's "When We Were Young" and got a four-chair turn from all of the coaches. Coach Levine tried a tad harder than the other coaches to get him on his team, and obviously worked.

Brendan Fletcher

Brendan Fletcher, who resides in Brooklyn, New York, auditioned by performing the ballad "Jolene" by Ray LaMontagne. Coaches Miley, Alicia, and Adam turned to which Fletcher ultimately chose to be on Team Adam.

Bindi Liebowitz

Often compared to the voices of Rihanna and Amy Winehouse, Bindi Liebowitz of Plainfield, New Jersey auditioned by singing the song "Bust Your Windows" Jazmine Sullivan. Coaches Blake and Adam faced off in a bicker-off which ended in Liebowitz choosing to be on Team Adam.

Elia Esparza

Elia Esparza took the risk of performing the Spanish dance hit "Como La Flor" for her blind audition, but ended up getting a three-chair turn, and Levine ended up luring her onto his already eclectic team.

Nolan Neal

By performing "Tiny Dancer" by the world famous Elton John, Los Angeles, California resident and musician Nolan Neal ended up catching the ear of all four coaches. However, Levine's passion for 80's pop music and mutual love for Elton John ended up persuading Neal onto Team Adam.

Simone Gundy

Arlington, Texas' Simone Gundy's audition of Tom Jones' "I (Who Have Nothing)" ended up impressing coaches Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine. Coach Levine ended up using real coaching methods to get her onto his team.

JSOUL ended up getting scrunched into a blind audition montage only for a minute, but the Virginia Beach resident and R&B singer ended up turning the chair of coach Adam Levine on the show by performing "Stay with Me" by Sam Smith.

Johnny Rez

Johnny Rez auditioned by performing the 1990's classic "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls and it was magical. He ended up turning the chairs of coaches Blake and Adam, but it was Adam's smooth coaching skills that got Rez to pick him.

Natasha Bure

Natasha Bure took on the incredible Elvis single, "Can't Help Falling in Love", for her blind audition which caught the attention of coach Adam Levine, who was the sole coach who turned for her.

Ponciano Seoane III

Singing "Home" by American Idol winner Phillip Phillips was a great choice for San Antonio man Ponciano Seoane who turned the chairs of coaches Miley and Adam, subsequently choosing to be on Team Adam.

Everything we know so far about Maroon 5's next album

Maroon 5.
Maroon 5's sixth LP is expected to come out in 2017

Maroon 5 has got to be one of the busiest bands in pop music at the moment. The L.A. group is currently embarking on their headlining North American tour with Tove Lo, R. City, and PHASES, and in-and-out of multiple studios, guitarist James Valentine is venturing into his own career as a guitar connoisseur, bassist Mickey is working on his solo project, same with PJ Morton, and Adam Levine is currently a coach on NBC's hit show The Voice for his eleventh consecutive season.

But despite all of these activities, this doesn't stop the three time Grammy Award-winning band from staying true to their fans and why they are passionate about music in the first place. At the start of this year, members of Maroon 5 have teased and leaked some forms of information about their upcoming sixth full-length studio effort. But, news about Maroon 5's follow-up to 2014's V didn't start surfacing until Valentine mentioned the album's progress during a live Facebook interview with The Huffington Post last month. "We have some more songs in various states of progress that we'll be working on at the end of this year and the beginning of next year", Valentine also states in the HuffPost interview.

Here's what we can confirm so far about the project.

The lead single will be "Don't Want to Know": "Don't Want to Know" is the new song Maroon 5 have been performing live on their newest North American headlining tour, which began on September 3rd in San Antonio. It's a pretty chill-structured song, featuring an easy-listening guitar riff that is held throughout the song's entirety from Valentine while cute synths and snaps float in the background. Levine croons "I don't wanna know know know know/Who's taking you home home home home/I'm loving you so so so so/The way I used to love you, oh".

It has also been uncertain if the song's title is actually "Don't Wanna Know", or "Don't Want to Know". BMI has it listed as "Don't Wanna Know", whereas the group's stage setlist for the 2016 U.S. tour has it listed as "Don't Want to Know". Either or, fans are eager to hear the final studio version of the single.

A music video for "Don't Want to Know" has been filmed: It's not a big secret to Maroon 5 fans that the group shot footage for a music video in downtown Los Angeles. On August 27th, photos surfaced online of the band dressed up in weird, Pokémon-styled spin-off costumes prancing around and dancing to the song's downtempo beat. Vince Vaughn, one of the most popular actors in modern comedy, will star in the music video as he was also photographed in a goofy Pokémon-like outfit on set. Valentine confirmed in his Huffington Post interview last month that David Dobkin, director of Wedding Crashers, returned as director for the video, after he directed and produced Maroon 5's controversial, yet nonetheless amazing "Sugar" music video.

Benny Blanco, Ammar Malik, and Jacob Kasher are producing the album: Some familiar names are returning to the line-up of producers who will be working on Maroon 5's upcoming sixth album. Benjamin Levin, also known as Benny Blanco, co-wrote and produced "Don't Want to Know", and has worked on numerous other Maroon 5 hits; "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, "Maps", and "Animals" to name a few. Ammar Malik, whose most popular nowadays for his work with boybands Rixton, The Vamps, One Direction, and 5 Seconds of Summer, returned to also produce and co-write "Don't Want to Know". BMI has given some other names as to who is producing the album, including Jacob Hindlin Kasher (Britney Spears, Trey Songz, Juicy J), John Ryan (Pitbull, Nick Jonas), and Joshua "Ammo" Coleman (Jason Derulo, Mike Posner, Selena Gomez).

Maroon 5 will begin tracking in late 2016: James Valentine spilled a lot of news about the band's sixth album in that interview with The Huffington Post last month. To quote Valentine on the timeline of the upcoming project, he stated "We have some more songs in various states of progress that we'll be working on at the end of this year and the beginning of next year." It sounds like the band will spend a lengthy amount of time in the studio during the first half of 2017 as well.

It will have a Songs About Jane approach: Valentine also said that him and the rest of the band would like to take the same musical direction similar to that of Songs About Jane. "The last couple of records we have experimented with a lot more electronic, more dance-oriented sounds and we've talked about making a record that was maybe a little more organic, back to the Songs About Jane sort of approach, but we'll have to see," he mentioned to HuffPost.

Maroon 5 debut chill new single live in San Antonio

Maroon 5 kicked off their 2016 U.S. headlining tour with a bang, debuting a new stage design, new set list, and a performing a brand new song.

The new song, to which the title is unknown, was debuted live on Saturday night's live concert in San Antonio, the first date on the band's tour. The song is suspected to be the band's brand new upcoming single. During the live performance, frontman Adam Levine is seen at the head of the stage arrow serenading with the song's beautifully-flowing lyrics, "The way I used to love you oh, oh, oh, oh, oh", while James Valentine plays this chill-vibe of a guitar riff, Matt Flynn plays an electronic drum set, and PJ Morton plays keys. The song sounds familiar to that of the works of DJ Snake or Major Lazer's work, and is very similar to RAC's single "Cheap Sunglasses".

Viable titles for this new song could include "Don't Wanna Know", "Used to Love You", or "Love You So", but this has not been confirmed.

In an interview with entertainment outlet Huffington Post on Facebook that occurred on Tuesday, August 23, Valentine confirmed that a new music video for group's the new single was filmed recently and was directed by film director David Dobkin, who directed and produced Maroon 5's music video for "Sugar", one of the biggest and best-selling singles of 2015.

"We have some more songs in various states of progress that we'll be working on at the end of this year and the beginning of next year", Valentine also states in the HuffPost interview. After being asked about what direction Maroon 5 is heading into musically for the next full-length, he said "The last couple of records we have experimented with a lot more electronic, more dance-oriented sounds and we've talked about making a record that was maybe a little more organic, back to the Songs About Jane sort of approach, but we'll have to see."

The new single and its music video are expected to drop this fall, prior to the conclusion of Maroon 5's headlining U.S. tour in October.

Maroon 5's sleepy fanbase has been woken up over the past week after leaked photographs of the members of the L.A. pop group were put up online of them dressed up as... Pokèmon? Okay, the aren't in any actual Pokèmon costumes, but it looks to be somewhat of a spin-off.

This could only mean one thing, right? Yup. Maroon 5 are shooting another goofy music video.

Thanks to JustJared, we have a major insight on what the next Maroon 5 music video will look like. It's not just Mr. Levine dressed up as a mysterious, goofy cartoon monster, but the entire band is dolled up in these monstrous costumes. It has been confirmed that David Dobkin returned as director for the music video and it will star actor Vince Vaughn. The music video was shot for the band's upcoming single, set to be released this fall.

Maroon 5 plan to start recording new album by the end of 2016

A new song from pop rock band Maroon 5 is in the works, and according to guitarist James Valentine, the new song will be "put out in between this record and our next record, which we just put the finishing touches on."

In an exclusive Huffington Post live interview on Facebook that occurred on Tuesday, August 23, Valentine also confirmed that a new music video for the new single was filmed recently and was directed by film director David Dobkin, who directed and produced Maroon 5's music video for "Sugar", one of the biggest and best-selling singles of 2015.

"We have some more songs in various states of progress that we'll be working on at the end of this year and the beginning of next year", Valentine also states in the HuffPost interview. After being asked about what direction Maroon 5is heading into musically for the next full-length, he said "The last couple of records we have experimented with a lot more electronic, more dance-oriented sounds and we've talked about making a record that was maybe a little more organic, back to the Songs About Jane sort of approach, but we'll have to see."

James Valentine also performed alongside The Roots on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday evening. You can check that out below.

New Maroon 5 single and music video expected to drop this September. The band will record the follow-up to 2014's V come later this year and will finish tracking by mid-2017.

Guitarist James Valentine confirms Maroon 5's new music video for new single was directed by David Dobkin

After weeks and weeks of rumors circulating the fact that Maroon 5 was filming a music video for their brand new single, which has yet to be announced, the band's guitarist James Valentine has confirmed that the L.A. pop rock outfit have wrapped up a music video with director David Dobkin.

In a live Facebook video streaming Q&A session with HuffPost Entertainment, Valentine was asked about Maroon 5's music video "Sugar", which was also directed by Dobkin, and the development behind it. Soon after, he confirmed that Maroon 5 had just shot and edited a music video for their upcoming single with Dobkin as director once again.

It has not been confirmed, however, whether or not Maroon 5 shot their music video in Cuba as earlier reported from local Cuban news outlets.

David Dobkin is famously known for being the director and screenwriter for the motion picture films Wedding Crashers, The Change-Up, R.I.P.D, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Jamison is best known for being the young, smooth R&B crooner on Adam Levine's team on The Voice season 7 in late 2014. His best performances on the show included covers of Robin Thicke's "Lost Without U" with Levine, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk", John Mayer's "Gravity", and Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River". He advanced to the finale and placed third on the show.

Along with the announcement of his debut EP, he launched his own podcast titled the I Am Podcast.

5 songs we need to hear on Maroon 5's North American tour

Maroon 5 performing live in 2014.
Maroon 5 need to play these 5 deep cuts on their upcoming U.S. tour

As we all know, Maroon 5 is embarking on what might their biggest and most expensive tour in North America yet, this fall. To help boost ticket sales and anticipation, electropop superstar Tove Lo will be the special guest on the tour, as well as support from hip hop duo R. City and indie pop supergroup PHASES on selected dates.

The massive tour will begin at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas on September 3rd and will conclude October 16th in Oakland, California at the Oracle Arena.

Maroon 5's headliners have slowly barrel rolled into greatest hits tours, as they keep pumping out No. 1 singles and chart-topping pop-perfected full-lengths. Their last tour in South American this summer consisted of 13 tracks being hit Maroon 5 singles, 1 being a cover of "Stereo Hearts" from Gym Class Heroes (which featured Adam Levine), and 1 other being a solo Adam Levine song cut from the soundtrack for 2014's film Begin Again. As rock-n-roll and eccentric their live show can be, it's time we some deep cuts and rarities on this North America tour.

Here's my short list of songs we need to hear on tour this fall.

5. "Never Gonna Leave This Bed", from the album Hands All Over (2010)

This pop rock power ballad from Maroon 5's 2010 studio album, Hands All Over, was and is still a huge fan favorite among the masses. "Never Gonna Leave This Bed" was released as single for contemporary radio in January 2011, however received little-to-no radio airplay. This was right before the band took a step towards dance-pop, whee five months later "Moves Like Jagger", featuring Christina Aguilera, was released to the world and made every Maroon 5 fan turn their heads in confusion.

4. "Won't Go Home Without You", from the album It Won't Be Soon Before Long (2007)

Just like "Never Gonna Leave This Bed", "Won't Go Home Without You" is one of Maroon 5's most underrated singles ever. From the band's 2007 album It Won't Be Soon Before Long, the song is easily one of their best from the 12 track record. The band performed it on every tour until their 2013 world tour and was likely replaced by "Love Somebody". What's going on, Maroon 5?

3. "Shiver", from the album Songs About Jane (2002)

"Shiver" is one Maroon 5's most badass songs ever released. Although not a single, the song proved that Maroon 5 were once true rock stars in the pop realm. "Shiver" was Maroon 5's choice for opening every set with for four years straight. Proof can be found in online archives of the band's full concerts from the early 2000s and on their live album Live - Friday the 13th. Seeing "Shiver" live would be massive and would put a massive smile on my face.

2. "Secret", from the album Songs About Jane (2002)

"Secret" is a beautifully written tune from Maroon 5's debut release, Songs About Jane. When performed live, the audience becomes horny and willing to scream along to every word.

1. "The Sun", from the album Songs About Jane (2002)

"The Sun" is definitely one of Maroon 5's best songs of all time. While there are at times cries of his vocals being too heavily produced, I find that they did a perfect job of capturing it, especially live. It was more unique when Songs About Jane was first released, but it still stands out over a decade later. A more surprising aspect of the band, however, is the fact that they are not performing it live nowadays.

June Highlights: Remembering Christina Grimmie, Maroon 5 hint at new album

June included the tragedy of a 'Voice' favorite, Maroon 5 hinting at new music & much more

June was a rollercoaster of a month for fans of Maroon 5, Adam Levine, and The Voice.

The month started off with the tragic death of Christina Grimmie, a young girl who auditioned for NBC's show The Voice in 2014 and made it to the finale as a contestant on Adam Levine's team. Grimmie's passing occurred on the early morning of June 11th after an incident that happened at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida the night before. Grimmie was shot three times which lead to her unfortunate death hours later at a local hospital. In other news, June was full of hints and revealing secrets as members of Maroon 5 spilled some beans on possible new Maroon 5 music. Back in April, frontman Adam Levine spoke about new Maroon 5 music on Live with Kelly and Michael, stating "We are working on some stuff right now. It's tough." He continued by saying "The Voice is happening, we're in and out of the studio. Baby stuff is happening." A couple months later, on June 22nd, founding member Jesse Carmichael revealed on his live broadcast on Periscope that Maroon 5 will indeed release a new single this summer. "We recorded a new Maroon 5 song," he flat-out said on his live broadcast. "It's coming out soon. It's going to be awesome." Ever since, fans have been eager to hear new music from the band.

Speaking of which, many fans expected Maroon 5 to drop the new song on National Maroon 5 Day, a music holiday Maroon 5 launched on June 25th to help fund UNICEF and UNICEF USA, who raise money to help poor children around the world. #Maroon5Day was also held in celebration of the 14th anniversary of the release of Maroon 5's debut studio effort, Songs About Jane, which was released on June 25, 2002.

Other Maroon 5 anniversaries that occurred in June was the 2 year anniversary of the single release "Maps" (June 16, 2014), the 4 year anniversaries of the single "One More Night" (June 19, 2012), and their fourth album Overexposed (June 26, 2012), the 5 year anniversary of "Moves Like Jagger", featuring Christina Aguilera (June 21, 2011), and the 6 year anniversary of the single "Misery" (June 20, 2010).

Also, one of Maroon 5's touring members, Sam Farrar, celebrated his 38th birthday on June 29th.

Maroon 5 keyboardist PJ Morton also released some new music in June as well. "First Began", an R&B-soul single, was released to Soundcloud on June 23rd. Listen to it here below.

Can't wait to see what happens in July!
