Adam Levine Talks About How 'The Voice' Launched Maroon 5's Success & Acting

Adam Levine on The Todd Show.
Adam Levine talked with The Todd Show about The Voice, "Moves Like Jagger"'s impact & Begin Again

Adam Levine stopped by 95.5 WPLJ in New York City on June 30 to talk with the people on The Todd Show about how he got started as a coach on NBC's television show The Voice, how "Moves Like Jagger" shot Maroon 5 to stardom, and when he was offered a spot as Dave Kohl on Begin Again.

Adam spoke about The Voice at first, saying that he at first doubted the whole chair-turning gimmick and his assumption of it being like American Idol and the X-Factor. "I don't even know anything about [The Voice] I walked in there not knowing," Adam spoke about the show. "I remember saying 'it sounds dodgy and what's with the moving chairs' and 'what's with this crap?'"

Later on after speaking about how "Moves Like Jagger" seemingly launched Maroon 5 into the pop-realm, he spoke about how he was skeptical about working with outside writers such as Benny Blanco and Shellback, producers who helped birth "Jagger", and later on "Payphone." "We needed something to shake it up and I think that if you're a band these days and you're trying to stick around for a long time, you don't want to retreat back to [your roots]," said Levine about Maroon 5's ever-evolving sound.

Adam Levine and James Valentine stopped in to Sirius XM's Hits 1 to talk about new music & Levine's teen years

Adam Levine and James Valentine gave an interview to the radio show Morning Mash Up this Tuesday (June 26). Adam talks about his childhood and how he was always "that one good kid" saying: "I just was grounded once by doing one bad thing. I wasn't a bad kid. I've never been punished for really anything, except when I had a party at my house. "

Also talking about Maroon 5's newest single "Maps" he claims that "[...] when I hear 'Maps', I get a little anxious because it's too high for me, and actually, it was a half-step higher than that. And I was like, 'guys, this is Alvin and the Chipmunks, I can't do the "evolution as composers."' We didn't know until the Maroon 5 music composition. Some people are born with this ability to write songs that are perfect all the time and we had to try different things and try different styles. It took a long time, but we started so young that I think when we were 20 years ago, more or less, we found something that was good for our band. "

Adam Levine on being a rock-star: "Becoming a [rockstar] is all I ever wanted. If there are several things that have to happen to you, you have to believe that will happen.I believed I had the talent and ability to win."

Adam Levine Talks About Maroon 5's Sacred Name on Letterman

Adam Levine talked with David Letterman about Maroon 5's secret reason behind the name on the Late Show

Adam Levine stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman last night (Mon, June 23) to speak about the new season of The Voice and it's red chairs, the provocative story behind the secret behind Maroon 5's name, and how Billy Joel got Adam Levine to tell him the meaning behind it.

Levine had stopped by the Live with Kelly and Michael Show earlier yesterday afternoon to speak about his engagement and the new Maroon 5 single, "Maps", which dropped last Monday. Watch the interview here.

Adam came dapper in a shiny purple suit, possibly inspired by the wonderful Minnesota pop star Prince, as he sat comfortably on David Letterman's guest chair to talk about mainly the meaning behind Maroon 5's oh-so-sacred name. After being asked if Levine has ever told anyone the story behind the band's name outside of the band, Levine replied with "Um, I did. I've told one person [...] his name's Billy Joel." Letterman quickly responded with "Oh I'm not calling him." Adam then recalled that the story was "so boring" that Billy Joel possibly doesn't remember the dumbered down sotory anyways.

Adam Levine and James Valentine perform Begin Again's hit "Lost Stars" acoustically

Adam Levine and James Valentine of pop rock group Maroon 5 performed the song "Lost Stars" at Conway Studios in Los Angeles exclusively earlier this month. As seen on the soundtrack to the major motion picture film, Begin Again, which is set to hit theaters on July 11, "Lost Stars" is produced by Noah Passovoy and was tracked by Adam Levine.

Begin Again sees Adam Levine's major movie acting debut as he stars as the no good rock star boyfriend, Dave Kohl, the ex-boyfriend of Keira Knightley's character Gretta. Gretta and her long-time boyfriend Dave are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who decamp for New York when he lands a deal with a major label. But the trappings of his new-found fame soon tempt Dave to stray, and a reeling, lovelorn Gretta is left on her own.

The film will hit theaters in Los Angeles and New York City on June 25 and will appear everywhere on July 11.

The soundtrack, featuring "Lost Stars", is available to pre-order on iTunes now:

Adam Levine Says New Album 'Is All Over the Place', Talks Gwen Stefani Collaboration

Adam Levine performing with Maroon 5 at the 2014 Wango Tango event.
Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine spoke with MTV about the band's new record, out Sept. 2

Adam Levine stopped and talked with MTV writer and editor John Walker about Maroon 5's upcoming fifth studio album, V, which is set to drop on September 2.

Firstly, talking about Maroon 5's collaboration with No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani, Levine says: “She’s incredible. It was so much fun,” Adam said of the No Doubt front woman, who was announced as a new coach on this fall’s season of “The Voice” back in April. “We just sat around and talked for hours. It was so fantastic getting to know her. I’m a huge fan of hers.” “It’s being mixed right now,” he revealed, “so I literally have not even named the song yet.” Adam did add that it’s “probably gonna be between two titles,” but wouldn't divulge anything further.

When asked about song titles and such on V, Levine was quick to reply stating: “I can’t let you know everything. I’ve gotta save some of my tricks for later.”

“This album is very much all over the place," Adam said after being asked in which direction does the new album point toward. "There’s some stuff on our record that sounds a little like early Maroon 5, and then there’s some stuff that sounds like the newer direction that we went in. I think that’s kind of the idea behind the album. It’s our fifth record. [Five] is literally part of our name. We thought we’d get back to certain elements that we’d been missing out on for a while with our original sound, but also bridge the gap with the new stuff that we’ve been doing. I think it’s an all-encompassing kind of record.”

Adam Levine Claims 'The Voice' Needs a Revamp

Adam Levine in 2012.
The Voice star claims that there are some problems with the NBC hit show

Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine spoke up about his current thoughts on this coming season of The Voice, which is set to premiere for it's seventh time on Monday, September 22 on NBC. Levine claims that the show indeed needs some sort of a revamp.

Speaking to the Rolling Stone magazine, The Voice judge and coach explained that he thinks there are some issues with the program that need to be addressed: "I'm not going to lie to you, I think there are problems."

"About a million people watch the show every week and fall in love with a singer, then you don't hear much from them. We haven't had a breakout success like Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. [The show is] very successful, but it's got a ways to go."

In other news, Maroon 5 is fresh off their newest single "Maps" which dropped this Monday (June 16) and is currently charting in the top-ten on the iTunes Store chart. The band's fifth studio album, V is set to drop on September 2 through Interscope Records.

Adam Levine Confirms Gwen Stefani May Be on Maroon 5 Album

Adam Levine talks with Ryan Seacrest about new single "Maps" and possible Gwen Stefani collaboration

Adam Levine called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest this morning (Mon, June 16) upon the premiere of Maroon 5's highly anticipated new single, "Maps" to talk about the new single, working on the set with Keira Knightley on the film Begin Again, and possibly working with Gwen Stefani of No Doubt on the new Maroon 5 record.

Although the lyrics sound like it’s about not being able to get past a broken relationship,”I think it’s kind of about a lot of things,” Adam clarifies. “It’s complicated. It’s also kind of not giving up on things too. People go through a lot of things and get stepped on and step on others and we all make mistakes … It’s kind of more about not giving up on something, even though maybe you should.” Adam is “super excited” about the release of “Maps,” even though the band has put out great music since their 2002 debut. “Every time we release a single, it always feel like the first time,” he explains. “I always get those butterflies. I’m so excited. I feel like I’m releasing a baby into the world … a song baby."

And Adam is just as excited to release V, Maroon 5′s fifth album, which is set to drop in September. “It’s my favorite one that we’ve ever done,” he says. “Here’s the deal, I’m so excited about this album. Mostly because I think that what we always do with every record … it’s kind of everything we’ve ever done as a band musically. It’s kind of all of those things on this album. It’s what we used to sound like, it’s what we sound like now, it’s what we want to sound like tomorrow. It’s all those elements all combined to make one, I think, really great album. It’s more of an album … It’s a better listen than ever. I like it, but I made it."

Although Maroon 5 has been a band technically since 2002, Adam and the guys have been making music together since they were 15-years-old. But they weren’t always as cool and popular as they are now. “We were freshmen in high school, no girls would talk to us,” he jokes. “I had pimples all over my face. I was not cool, really, at all. And that’s when all of this started, and we’re still doing it. It blows my mind.” Adam also confirmed a rumor that has been going around about Maroon 5′s V album … that Gwen Stefani makes an appearance on it! “How do you know everything already?” he jokingly asked Ryan after some stammering. “I wanted it to be a surprise, but she is.” In addition to new Maroon 5 music, Adam is also making his movie debut in Begin Again with Keira Knightley, which is out June 27.

Adam Levine wants to get in touch with his ex's to apologize for past behavior before marrying Behati

In a source close to Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, it is said that Levine wants to apologize to his past girlfriends for his somewhat-of-a-poor behavior and for constantly ignoring them, breaking friendships and blowing off calls and texts up until Levine and Prinsloo's engagement last July.

According to American gossip and celebrity magazine Us Weekly, the insider said Adam Levine wants to start his marriage off on a clean slate. As he preps for his wedding with Victoria's Secret model wife-to-be Behati Prinsloo on July 19 in Los Cabos, Mexico, Levine is reaching out to some of his ex-girlfriend's to make amends. "He apologized for how he treated them," the insider says of the model-loving Voice mentor, whose former flames include models of the same caliber as Prinsloo, Anne Vyalitsyna and Nina Agdal.

Another source had told Us Weekly that Levine's past girlfriends aren't "too keen" as to let him off the hook, as another insider told the gossip magazine press "they couldn't care less if he wants to make it right."

On another topic, a supposed friend of Adam Levine's has revealed that Levine has spoken about possibly getting his fiancee's name permanently tattooed across his heart on his chest following their marriage in July.

One Republic Says New Maroon 5 Song 'Doesn't Sound Like Anything Out'

Adam Levine and Ryan Redder on the television show The Voice in 2013.
Maroon 5's new single is said to be totally different than what's on radio right now, by Ryan Redder

Ryan Tedder took it to Twitter on the One Republic account on Tuesday (June 3) to speak out about the new Maroon 5 single, "Maps."

""Maps is coming from our friends in Maroon 5," the One Republic Twitter account begins in their tweet about the new single. "It doesn't sound like anything out [right now]." The tweet was composed upon the announcement of "Maps" on Tuesday morning. Considering that Tedder and Co. were the first to speak out about Maroon 5's new single and had such a quick opinion on it does that mean Ryan Tedder produced the single?

It is rumored that "Maps" will be made available to stream sometime prior to its initial release on Monday, June 16.

On Tuesday, pop rock band Maroon 5 announced that they would released their new single "Maps" on June 16, in which will impact pop radio through Interscope on iTunes. "Maps" leads the band's highly anticipated fifth studio effort, V set to be released on September 2nd.
