Adam Levine Rumored to Star in '50 Shades of Grey' Movie

Ashley Benson and model Alexis Bledel are also rumored to star in the novel-inspired '50 Shades' movie

Earlier today, rumors began to surface the internet that Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine would be starring in the E.L. James produced film '50 Shades of Grey', which is set to be released in early 2014. After the music video premiere of Maroon 5's "Love Somebody", Levine hinted a new movie role sometime next year and coincidentally rumors sparked that he'd be staring in '50 Shades.'

Here's the article taken from Latin Post today.

It's a new week, and you know what that means: new "50 Shades of Grey" casting rumors. No matter how silent E. L. James and Universal Studios remain on the issue, the "50 Shades" wheel keeps on turning. Every week a new name pops up into the area while fans continue to drool over the top candidates. Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder remain fan poll champions for the role of Christian Grey, while a larger group of young starlets, such as Alexis Bledel and Emilia Clarke, battle for the role of Anastasia Steele. This week however, a few new candidates have entered contention. Although they may not be topping the ranks, they would surely make a handsome pair on the big screen.

"Pretty Little Liars'" Ashley Benson is now getting more "50 Shades" attention than she may have bargained for. Fans have considered her for the role ever since her co-star Lucy Hale began scoring more points among fan polls, but now that she's addressed the possibility in a recent interview, she's raising "50 Shades" eyebrows worldwide.
"Oh, man. I've been linked to that movie so many times," Benson said. "It's so funny. I don't know. It depends. It might be a bit of a stretch. I don't know if I could do all that... I loved the book. I mean amazing, great. I read all three books in a week, but the movie, I mean reading it and doing it is completely different." Truer words have never been said when it comes to "50 Shades of Grey."

On the other side of equation, Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine is now stirring his own "50 Shades" buzz. In his recent and rather racy music video, Levine proves that he has the look and the gusto to get down and dirty on film. The video, "Love Somebody," hit YouTube last week and has already accumulated more than five million views. Some eager "50 Shades" fans have already linked to video to the singer's potential Christian Grey candidacy.

Adam Levine Talks About 'Drugs Experience'

Maroon 5 singer talks about his drug issues in the past and touring

Adam Levine sat down and talked to NewsNet about his use of drugs in the past and how they can take a negative toll on a musicians career. Read more below:

Pop star Adam Levine swore off drugs early on in his career after a strange experience on prescription medication Ambien.

The Maroon 5 frontman and his bandmate James Valentine mistook the sedatives for stimulants and took them while on tour, but instead of giving them a much-needed boost, the drug knocked them out cold - while they were waiting for dinner.

He says, "We had a brief experience one time with what I guess was Ambien. James Valentine and I, we didn't really know what it was... It was the first and last time we took this drug. But we were at Denny's (diner) at some shady part of the city of whatever part of the country we were in, and we took it and we ordered the food... and we woke up at the table, what must have been an hour (later)... I was like, 'Oh no' and James had his head down, so I was like, 'Hey man, hey, we should get out of here'. We didn't eat our food, we sheepishly paid our bills and walked out and everyone's looking (at us) like, 'What's wrong with these guys?'.

"And then since then I've never done drugs."

Adam Levine Makes Development Deal with NBC

Adam Levine in a photo shoot in the United Kingdom in 2012.
Adam Levine partners with Jordan Feldstein to produce and write new NBC shows and more

It was announced today (May 8) on The Hollywood Reporter that Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine was signing deals with NBC to produce and work with television production teams of the channel later this year to publish shows.

Here's the announcement:

The Voice coach and Maroon 5 frontman has inked a one-year first-look development deal at NBC with his longtime manager-turned-producing partner Jordan Feldstein. Together, the pair will create both scripted and alternative programming to serve as series and specials for the network.

"It would be impossible to quantify Adam's influence and importance to the success of The Voice," noted Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming for NBC Entertainment. "Given those enormous contributions, we're very anxious to work with him and Jordan to see what future shows they develop that can find a home here at NBC."

The latest move comes as Levine continues to diversify his resume as he shrewdly capitalizes on the success of Voice. Since the top-rated singing competition launched in spring 2011, Levine has launched an acting career, which has included roles in film (Can a Song Save Your Life?) and TV (American Horror Story), as well as fashion and fragrance lines.

The growing empire includes a suite of endorsement deals (Proactiv among them), a guest hosting gig on Saturday Night Live and a big boost to Maroon 5's sales as well.
That the network would look to do more business with Levine comes as little surprise given its success with him as a Voice coach. Unlike fellow coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, who sat out the current iteration, Levine is currently participating in his fourth season of the series and will return with the show's original panel in the fall. In fact, in a THR cover story earlier this spring, Feldstein acknowledged that NBC is "going to have to physically remove Adam from the building [because] he loves doing the show and it's been great for his career."

Levine and Feldstein (actor Jonah Hill's brother) have been close family friends since they were kids growing up in Los Angeles. The duo's fathers had been best friends since the men were 14. Feldstein, who is now CEO of Los Angeles-based Career Artist Management, has managed Maroon 5 from their formation more than 10 years ago. In addition, he oversees the careers of multi-platinum acts such as Alanis Morissette, Sara Bareilles and Robin Thicke.

It's worth noting that this is not Levine's first foray behind the camera. The musician, who is also repped by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman, has dabbled with producing scripted fare before, including a 2011 ensemble comedy set at a karaoke bar that was being developed at NBC.

Adam Levine Talks About Prom, High School &' The Voice'

Maroon 5 singer talked with Pop Crush about his stint on The Voice and his High School Prom as well

Adam Levine looks poised to step in for Jim Carrey or Jeff Daniels’ characters in ‘Dumb and Dumber’ in this getup.

Bravo to the Maroon 5 frontman for not just matching his vest to his date’s dress, but his whole dang outfit. It takes a real man to sport a white tux with coattails. Coattails, people! This prom picture, snapped before the big dance at the Brentwood School in Los Angeles circa 1996, is possibly one of the most ’90s prom photos ever. Spiked hair? Check. "I was absolutely nervous and I had no idea what I was doing," said Levine in the interview, "I feel almost as if I was forced in to it more than I really wanted to so it was one of those deals." Asked by Pop Crush if the signer's date was the one they call 'Jane, Adam responded saying "That is not Jane. I didn't quite know Jane yet I don't believe."

Adam Levine is a full time coach on NBC's The Voice two nights a week. "It's a glorifying thing to help people achieve their goals in life. I think winning the first season was almost like 'ok now it doesn't matter because I already one the show' but I would love to win and help my team achieve their goals."

Maroon 5 performed all the new and old hits in the book at the 2013 Jazz Fest

Before Adam Levine found his "Voice" as a mega-famous TV talent show coach, he was a singer in a Los Angeles band called Maroon 5. At the New Orleans Jazz Fest on Friday, he was once again.

It is a testament to the drawing power of a pop band with an even more popular lead singer that many thousands of people will stand in what was essentially a sty -- a sopping, shoe-sucking slop consisting of mud, water and what smells like thoroughbred excrement -- to see and hear said band. The sizable contingent of adolescent females on hand screeched and hooted in approval when Levine removed his leather jacket to reveal a thin white T-shirt and his tattoo sleeves.

Perhaps trying to ward off Friday's chilly temperatures, Levine was in constant motion. Easily the most intense of the judges on "The Voice," he seems constrained by the revolving red chair from which he solicits aspiring singers. On the broad Acura Stage, he could expend as much frontman energy as he wanted.

To that end, he shimmied and whirled. He dashed to and fro. He strapped on a guitar for the occasional solo or strum. He served as his bandmates' biggest cheerleader, announcing not once but twice that auxiliary keyboardist PJ Morton is a New Orleans native (Morton is the son of Greater St. Stephen's Bishop Paul S. Morton). He noted the difficult choices Jazz Fest attendees face, admitting that he kind of wanted to go see Willie Nelson at the Gentilly Stage but, alas, duty called.

He also went to great lengths to deny that a poster held aloft in the crowd of what looked like a naked Adam Levine atop a motorcycle was him; apparently it is a Brazilian model and Levine lookalike named Rafael Lazzini. "I will sign it if you like, as long as you understand...that that is not me," Levine said.

He also sang on point and in key. Maroon 5's best songs -- including much of "Songs About Jane," the band's multi-million-selling 2002 debut -- boast uncluttered arrangements, clearly defined hooks and melodies, clean guitar lines, a tidy rhythm section and a little lagniappe, be it a whiff of funk or reggae.

Case in point: The staccato "One More Night," which came off like reggae run through a condenser at the Fair Grounds. Levine opened "The Sun" with a Michael Jackson-esque "tee-hee"; later, he strapped on an electric guitar to engage lead guitarist James Valentine in a brief rock-off. He and the band knocked out a chiseled "Harder to Breathe." Up-and-coming singer Rozzi Crane, newly signed to Levine's 222 Records, joined him to cover the Mary J. Blige part in "Wake Up Call." "This Love" was every bit the guitar-pop gem it is on "Songs About Jane."

The show's finale was never in doubt. The shimmying dance-pop 2011 single "Moves Like Jagger" was Maroon 5's biggest hit since "Songs About Jane," and one of the biggest singles of that year. It was met with a predictably joyous reception at the Fair Grounds. Valentine's chiming riffs channeled Chic's Nile Rodgers; by the song's conclusion, he shifted gears for some power riffage.

"Keeping supporting live music," Levine announced. "It's important."
