Maroon 5 released their new single on June 19 "One More Night", a reggae-jam produced by Max Martin and Shellback who candy covered the band's number-one summer hit last year "Moves Like Jagger." But the Christina Aguilera collaboration doesn't seem to match up with reggae, just like "Night." The new single debuts at No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and makes a No. 12 impression on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. The new song follows the release of Overexposed's fronting single "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, which first charted in late April debuting at No. 3 on the Hot 100. "Payphone" moves up a spot to No. 2 this week, reaching it's new peak, on the Hot 100 singles chart. Over on the Digital Songs chart "Payphone" falls 2-3 while Katy Perry's new synth tune "Wide Awake" beats the gang to the runner-up spot. The song also moves up a spot 3-2 on the Pop Songs chart, 4-3 on the On-Demand chart, and still remains the NO. 1 single in Canada. However for their 2010 album Hands All Over, which still charts freely throughout the Billboard 200 albums chart, it falls into the bad-half descending 100-115. It first peaked almost 2 years ago at No. 2 falling behind Linkin Park... which is coinsidence that the band will be going up against Linkin Park again in this coming sales week. Let's take a look at the bands' head-to-head competition shall we?
LINKIN PARK'S "A THOUSAND SUNS" DEBUTS AT No. 1
MAROON 5'S "HANDS ALL OVER" ENTERS AT No. 2.
LINKIN PARK'S "ALL LIVING THINGS" WILL DEBUT AT No. 1
MAROON 5'S "OVEREXPOSED" WILL FALL SHORT AT No. 2
Billboard, the charting company, predicts that the rock band Linkin Park's new release Living Things will debut atop the Billboard 200 chart on the sales week of July 5th with well over 220,000 album sales. As for Maroon 5, they predict they will fall short at No. 2, falling behind Linkin Park, with Overexposed only selling at as much as 190,000 album sales.

Maroon 5 is out and blazing hot with their new album Overexposed, which comes out fresh on June 26 in the States. On the album, the group brought back some rock 'n roll elements on a bonus track from the album that looks to be a Prince cover of his number one single "Kiss." The original song has a slight contemporary R&B and soul vibe, which you'd think the boys of Maroon 5 would appriciate and keep in their studio cover, but they revibe the tune with some classic 60's rock 'n roll and blues-y feeling. The track is featured as a bonus track on the album along with two remixes of the band's hit single "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, as well as the J.R. Rotem produced "Wipe Your Eyes" tune, and their SAJ era track "Wasted Years."

Moving on to the other genre charts, over on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, the payphone track 6-3, on the On-Demand Songs chart meets it's new peak moving 3-2, falls 9-10 on the Ringtone Chart, grooves up from 22-19 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart (of course the non-rap version), stands still at No. 3 on the Adult Pop Songs chart, enters the Alternative Songs chart at No. 47, and as for the YouTube Video Charts... is stands at No. 2.
The band's Benny Blanco and Max Martin-produced track "Moves Like Jagger", which topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for four consecutive weeks last fall, re-enters the Digital Songs chart at No. 66. The disco-thique tune also holds at No. 8 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart, and moves up 13-12 on the Myspace Audio charts. The group's third studio record, Hands All Over, charted at No. 92 this week after moving up two spots from No. 94 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. |Songs About Jane official re-issue album cover.|
The band's debut release spawned several successful, eclectic singles. In 2002, the band came up-to-bat with their metal-fused hit "Harder to Breathe." In 2004, they released what would be their world-changing, hit "This Love" and in 2005, releasing their jazzy pop "Sunday Morning" track. But their most recognizable hit "She Will Be Loved" will forever change the way fans and pop radio tuners have an aspect on music today. The single won the band several awards and has been featured in commercials, movies, soundtracks, and has been one of the most covered songs in America. Their song "Must Get Out" and "Secret" is also one of the most demanded songs the band performed live back in their SAJ era and going into their IWBSBL era.
The band's second studio release, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, released in May of 2007, entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at number-one, being the bands first no. one album, and only being their second. The album spawned a few good pop-clique hits as well. The irresistible guitar-pop track "Makes Me Wonder", which peaked atop the Billboard Top Hot 100 singles' chart in 2007... and the funky-soul tune "Wake Up Call", which got the band a spot in the top ten in Canada.
The Grammy-Award winning group's third studio album, Hands All Over, is and probably always will be the band's most experienced album they will ever release. It may have done poorly commercially and was the band's lowest-selling album, debuting at number-two and falling out of the top ten in the States' by it's second week, but the album was much loved by fans and gained the crew tons of new fans as well. As specially with it's re-release in July 2011 with the inclusion of their forever-changing disco-pop track "Moves Like Jagger." It got the album 20,000+ digital sales that summer launching it into the top ten on the Billboard 200 and number-one on the Digital Albums chart.

It would be easy ti attribute Maroon 5's renewed eminence of Adam Levine's presence as a judge on the breakout television hit The Voice. But simply celebrating a lithesome frontman with a penchant for displaying his tattooed body and sparring with a testy diva on a television show in a disservice to an ever-evolving band that is flourishing long after lesser groups would have knocked out of the ring. Two key members - self effaced lead guitarist James Valentine and the animated and hypercharged front man Adam Levine - reveal a contrast in energies. In this exclusive interview, Music Connection speaks with the pair about the shifting colors of one of the world's most successful bands.

Maroon 5 performed at the Rock In Rio Lisboa musical event's World Stage yesterday evening and streamed live on YouTube. They performed from their glamorous hits "The Sun" and "She Will Be Loved" to their new pop-esque "Payphone" and "Misery." You can watch the whole thing below! Part I: Part II:
|Maroon 5 performing at the 2011 Rock In Rio concert in Brazil.|
The Grammy-Award winning group just performed moments ago on the World Stage in Lisboa performing their latest and greatest hits. They kicked off the show with their newly released pop-rap fused tune "Payphone", the no rap version of course, and concluded the show with a wonderful crowd-interactive medley of "She Will Be Loved." Surprisingly the crew did not perform any new material from their upcoming album Overexposed such as the lovely reggae-fused "One More Night" or the recently talk about "Daylight" track. The band is sharing the stage with Lenny Kravitz this evening on the World Stage in Lisboa and is promoting their new albums coming out this summer!
The whole show will be put up on YouTube later tomorrow. It will be shared via link on Twitter! Follow us at @M5NewsRoom! Also, thank you to Maroon 5 for finally following us on Twitter! Much appreciated.
In other news, the band's radio release date for "One More Night" is set for June 25, 2012! Listen out for it!
